The Ibanez RG8870-BSR is a Japanese-made J.Custom Axe Design Lab electric guitar created for players seeking high-level craftsmanship, refined playability and a versatile HSH tonal platform. The guitar combines a chambered Alder body with a 4 mm AAA Flamed Maple top, giving it a balanced response while the chambered construction contributes to resonance and reduced overall body weight. Its RG J.Custom Super Wizard AS 5-piece Maple/Wenge neck features an asymmetric profile, All Access Neck Joint and deep, bevelled lower-horn contour for comfortable access across the entire 24-fret range. The RG8870-BSR uses an HSH pickup configuration with a DiMarzio PAF 36th Anniversary humbucker at the neck, DiMarzio True Velvet single-coil in the middle and DiMarzio The Tone Zone humbucker at the bridge. The combination delivers a broad range of tones, from articulate and warm neck sounds to clear middle-position tones and powerful bridge output. A five-way pickup selector provides the primary pickup combinations, while the coil-tap switch adds additional tonal options from the neck and bridge humbuckers. The 24 jumbo frets receive Ibanez's j.custom fret-edge treatment, and the 430 mm-radius fingerboard is designed for fast, precise playing and demanding technical techniques. The guitar is equipped with a Lo-Pro Edge tremolo bridge with 10.8 mm string spacing and a locking nut for stable tuning during tremolo use.
