Ibanez SRF705-BBF

The Ibanez SRF705-BBF is a 5-string fretless electric bass from the Ibanez Bass Workshop SR series, designed for players seeking the smooth pitch transitions and expressive tonal character associated with fretless basses. The SRF705-BBF combines two Bartolini MK-1 passive pickups with Ibanez's electronics system and the AeroSilk Piezo system integrated into the bridge. The magnetic pickups provide the core electric-bass sound, while the piezo system adds a more acoustic-like tonal dimension and increased articulation. The onboard electronics include a 2-band EQ for the magnetic pickups and an active tone control for the piezo system, with separate controls for the neck pickup, bridge pickup and piezo volume. Finished in Brown Burst Flat (BBF), the SRF705-BBF combines its understated appearance with Cosmo Black hardware. The current specification uses an Okoume wing body, Bound Panga Panga fretboard and five-piece Maple/Walnut neck, while earlier production versions used different body and neck materials, so the specifications here correspond to the later SRF705-BBF configuration. It is fitted with a custom AeroSilk Piezo bridge with 16.5 mm string spacing and D'Addario ECB81-5 flatwound strings in .045–.132 gauges.
