Yamaha YAS-480S Intermediate Alto Saxophone

The Yamaha YAS-480S is an intermediate-level Eb alto saxophone designed for advancing students and developing musicians seeking improved tonal response, comfortable playability and refined construction. It shares the performance features of the YAS-480 while featuring an elegant silver-plated finish. Its responsive sound, ergonomic key layout and professional-inspired design make it suitable for concert bands, jazz ensembles, solo performances and regular practice.

The YAS-480S features a specially designed 480-style neck that supports improved tone and response. Its redesigned neck receiver allows players to use the included 480-style neck or compatible Yamaha Custom Z and Custom EX necks, available separately. The traditional 62-style body shape provides a clear sound and comfortable playing feel. Its two-point contact mechanism supports improved projection and a free-blowing response, while the enhanced low B–C# connection promotes consistent key closure and clear response in the lower register.

For comfortable handling, the saxophone includes a left-hand seesaw key, a teardrop-shaped Front F key and an adjustable thumb hook. Its two-piece brass bell features hand engraving and a bell ring that supports instrument vibration. Separate key guards with adjustable screw-cap stoppers provide professional-style adjustment options. The instrument includes a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and an ASC-400EII semi-hard carrying case.
