Yamaha YAS-62 Professional Alto Saxophone

The Yamaha YAS-62 is a professional-level Eb alto saxophone designed for serious musicians, advancing students and performing saxophonists. Renowned for its reliable performance, excellent intonation and expressive tonal character, it combines Yamaha's precision craftsmanship with an ergonomic design. Its rich, focused sound and elegant gold-lacquered finish make it suitable for classical music, jazz, concert bands, orchestral performances and professional playing.

The YAS-62 features a specially developed 62-style neck with a slightly narrower bore, providing faster response and greater control. Its professional-style neck receiver offers a secure connection and allows compatibility with selected Yamaha Custom Z and Custom EX necks, available separately. The traditional 62-style body shape contributes to a brighter sound and comfortable playing feel. Integrated key posts provide moderate resistance and help produce a solid tonal core, while the two-point contact mechanism supports enhanced projection and a free-blowing response.

For improved playability, the saxophone features an ergonomic key layout, a left-hand seesaw key and an adjustable teardrop-shaped Front F key. Its two-piece brass bell is hand-engraved by skilled craftsmen, giving the instrument a distinctive appearance. The improved low B–C# connection promotes consistent key closure and clearer response in the lower register. The YAS-62 also includes High F# and Front F auxiliary keys, an adjustable thumb hook, a Yamaha 4C mouthpiece and a semi-hard carrying case.
